Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29, 2007 (repealed by RD 822/2021, of September 28, 2021), which establishes the organization of official university education, requires, for verification and accreditation of a degree, the incorporation of an internal guarantee system for the evaluation, monitoring and improvement of the quality of the training offer. Royal Decree 420/2015, of May 29, on the creation, recognition, authorization and accreditation of universities and university centers determines, for its part, that, to obtain institutional accreditation, university centers had to obtain certification of the implementation of its QMS and have renewed the initial accreditation according to the general procedure for at least half of the official bachelor's and master's degrees taught at the center.
The QMS documentation must be composed, at least, of a manual, quality policy and objectives, procedures, results and indicators, improvement plans, those responsible for the QMS and the procedures and document management system.
